Red Vase with Grass

In college, my favorite poster hanging in my dorm room was of a painting by Hundertwasser titled "grass growing on the bald man's head".  Very colorful with lots of eye catching movement, it was a disproportionately large head of a bald man with small grass blades sprouting from its crown.  I loved it; the interplay of color and pattern, the free formed head but particularly the oddity of the grass.

In an hommage to the bald man and its creator, I incorporated grass into my latest and largest piece.  Standing 11" tall, it is featured in the window of the Show of Hands Gallery where my show is currently running until November 4.
